The Harlem Globetrotters

The book is about a basketball team named the Harlem Globetrotters. The team was made in 1927 by a man from Chicago called Abe Saperstien. The team was originally called the Savoy Big Five which was changed because Saperstien wanted to represent the famous African American neighborhood which is Harlem, New York because back then only whites were able to play professional basketball. He made the jersey colors red,white, and blue. Their first game in Chicago since the team was made there but they moved it to Harlem. It talks about all the problems they faced while playing because back then African-Americans weren't treated equally. They would get boo'd by the fans of the other team and the fans would sometimes throw things at the players. They players had a rough career playing with Harlem Globetrotters but they didn't care because all they wanted to do was entertain the audience and have fun. From 1927 till now the Harlem Globetrotters are a great team. I like how they persevered even if people disliked them and  they are team I recommend you should watch.

  My thoughts about the book was that it was interesting and a good. At first I only knew the team because I've seen videos of them but I didn't know the history about them and how they had a different name and played in a different place. I think it crazy how they elaborated over the years by findin new ways to entertain the fans and make the amazed. The book  helped me find out what the whole team was about. It's crazy how they once played against an NBA team in their starting years. I recommend this book to people who like sports and biographies.
